On Saturday, 27 November,2010 in a simple program Bangladeshi Systems Change Advocacy Network (B-SCAN) distributed wheelchairs to two persons with disability by the financial support of Rotary Club of Dhaka Central. Dhaka Central’s president Lt.Gen (rtd) Harun Ar Rashid and the First Lady Mrs. Harun Ar Rashid was the chief guest of the program. As it was the Women’s Day of the club so maximum female member was present on that occasion. Including Rotarian Commodore (rtd) Ataur Rahman , Rotarian M. Quasim and Lt. Gen (rtd) Masud Ali khan there were other Rotarians.
Whom the two wheelchairs were presented, one of them named Zorgina Begum, her Father was Late Mr. Abdul Aziz Akond and Mother Hosneara Begum. Zorgina has physical disability since she had an accident at her 13 years of age. She has to wear brace to her both legs and walks with a stick. But it is difficult to wear those for a longer period of time. So she needed a alternate way for her movement.
Another person was Nigar Sultana Sumi, her Father is Safi Uddin Ahmed and Mother Ayesha Ahmed. Sumi is a polio victim since her childhood. It is not at all possible for her to move without a wheelchair. B-SCAN stood beside these two persons.
On behalf of B-SCAN General Secretary Salma Mahbub, Treasurer Oronno Anam and Volunteers Kazi Anwar, Koushik and Onirban was present on that program.
